DreamHack Leipzig reaches the next level
Following a brilliant première last winter, DreamHack Leipzig is entering the second round from 13 to 15 January 2017. With exciting e-sports tournaments, the latest hardware and software from the DreamExpo, first-class products in the DreamStore and Germany's largest LAN party, the Leipzig trade fair site will once again become a key festival venue for gaming enthusiasts from all of Europe. Due to the outstanding reception from exhibitors and visitors, the scope of the event is being expanded in the coming year.
"With a combination of exciting competitions, attractive stands and a great festival atmosphere, DreamHack Leipzig has struck a chord with the e-sports and gaming scene. Next January, the event will be even larger and exceed the successful première in every way. DreamHack Leipzig has already established itself as a highlight of the year among gamers within Germany and abroad ahead of the second event," explains Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of the Leipzig Trade Fair.
The DreamExpo and the tournament area will be expanded in the coming year and together fill an entire hall. The LAN area will be moved into its own hall, so that gamers can celebrate a three-day LAN party away from the hustle and bustle of the big stages. In addition, 1,500 seats will offer space for 500 more people in total than at this year's event.
DreamHack Leipzig 2017 is once again being co-organised by Schenker Technologies, which with its XMG brand stands for high-end-gaming PCs and laptops. "Thanks to our spatial proximity to the Leipzig Trade Fair and the XMG LAN area, as well as to our experiences and contacts in the e-sports world, we will contribute to the continued success of DreamHack Leipzig. Our fans can look forward to a few surprises," says Robert Schenker, Managing Director of Schenker Technologies.
More than 13,000 visitors from 15 countries came to the Leipzig trade fair site for the first DreamHack Leipzig, which was held from 22 to 24 January 2016. Numerous professional e-sports tournaments with top international players were held, including CS:GO and Starcraft 2 competitions as part of the prestigious DreamHack Open. Hearthstone and FIFA16 tournaments were also conducted.
Major industry players such as XMG, ASUS and Ballistix presented their new products at the DreamExpo, and the DreamStore offered hardware and software bargains to the visitors. More than 1,000 gamers celebrated Germany's biggest LAN party for 56 hours straight. The experience was rounded off with stars of the e-sports and streaming community, eye-catching cosplayers and a varied events programme.
