Press release from 12/15/16 | DreamHack Leipzig

All-round hit for gaming at DreamHack Leipzig

Still looking for a last-minute Christmas present for your relatives who like playing computer games? In four weeks’ time, DreamHack Leipzig will be staged for the second time and the anticipation is rising among gaming enthusiasts from all over Germany. Exciting e-sports tournaments and Germany's largest LAN party will create an exuberant festival vibe over three days. The DreamExpo will present the latest hardware and software, including that from the partners XMG, Amazon.de and Ballistix. In the Stream Area, visitors will be able to see Germany’s elite streamers up close and a Cosplay competition will create a magical gaming atmosphere.

Prize money totalling 100,000 US dollars will be up for grabs when the prestigious DreamHack Open tournament series celebrates kicking off the year in style. Six international professional teams and two qualifiers from the amateur domain will compete against one another in the CS:GO shooter classic. The tournament will extend over the full length of the festival and culminate in the grand finale on the Sunday evening.

Back at its premiere, DreamHack Leipzig was the setting for Germany's biggest LAN party with 1,000 enthusiastic gamers who played with and against each other for 56 hours. This January the LAN will surpass itself because it is moving into its own hall and will be increased to 1,500 seats. If you want to experience this gaming marathon yourself, you should hurry as there are only a few tickets still available.

Gaming highlights at the DreamExpo and in the DreamStore

In the DreamExpo exhibition area, numerous companies will be presenting the latest hardware and software. The exhibitors will include industry giants such as XMG, Amazon.de and Ballistix, but also small hotbeds of innovation and start-ups in the specially created IndieVille. Attention in this area will focus in particular on virtual reality as the trendy topic of the year.

At the DreamExpo stands visitors will find not only high-tech products, but also exciting events. For example, Amazon.de is bringing the "Gamers Cage", the "Gamers Showroom" and the Amazon Twitch Lounge to DreamHack Leipzig. In the "Gamers Cage" visitors will be able to try out the latest devices, in the "Gamers Showroom" dream of playing on one of the Pro-PCs on display, and on the Amazon Twitch Stage they will be able to meet famous streamers in the live streaming video portal. Ballistix will be staging an installation competition in which the participants must equip a motherboard with a complete set of Ballistix memory modules as quickly as possible. The best participants will compete against each other in the final, which will take place on the large events stage.

In the coming January, gamers will once again find everything their hearts desire in the DreamStore at DreamHack Leipzig – and at heavily discounted prices. Media Markt will once more be running the DreamStore, and will even be bringing along "virtual reality you can touch" in the Media Markt truck.

Experience Germany’s streaming elite and creative Cosplay up close

Many prominent streamers from all over Germany will congregate in the Stream Area. These include MrMoregame, Dhalucard, Fishk0p and TrilluXe, who will be appearing in public for the first time. Along with the 18 fixed slots for established streamers, there are also two wild-card places which will be shared over the course of the festival by a total of six ambitious newcomers. The streamers will not only report live from DreamHack Leipzig via their Twitch and YouTube channels, but will also talk with fans and visitors at the "Meet & Greet" area.

DreamHack Leipzig not only delivers excitement, high-tech and gaming celebrities, but also boasts a unique atmosphere. This is created in particular by the cosplayers, who bring famous gaming characters to life. In the Cosplay competition, which will take place on the second day of the festival, the costume players will be given a place in the spotlight. A total of 30 participants will present themselves and their lovingly designed creations to the public and the critical eyes of the jury, made up of experienced cosplayers.
