Press release from 1/16/18 | DreamHack Leipzig

PlayStation Masters to feature at DreamHack Leipzig for first time

With the StarCraft II World Championship Series, the DreamHack Open with Rocket League, the “Win the Winter” Hearthstone tournament and the ASUS ROG League of Legends Cup, the upcoming DreamHack Leipzig (26 to 28 January 2018) will already offer more e-sports than ever before. Now there will be an additional highlight. The PlayStation Masters are coming to DreamHack Leipzig, meaning that the festival will for the first time host tournaments that use a console.

With FIFA 18 and Rocket League, two of the most popular sports games for the PlayStation will be represented at DreamHack Leipzig. The qualifying games, in which more than 1,500 players participated, have been taking place since October 2017. Kai “Hensoo” Hense of 1.FC Nürnberg is entering the FIFA tournament as the favourite.

The efforts of the qualifying players will not go unrewarded. Alongside an invitation to the event, the following sums in prize money will be awarded in the games:

    FIFA 18:
    1st place – €1,000
    2nd place – €500

    Rocket League:
    1st place – €750
    2nd place – €300

But that’s not all. There will be two other games at DreamHack Leipzig. During a tournament in Gran Turismo Sport, the latest edition of the popular racing simulation, selected players will be directly invited to battle it out on site. And visitors can also look forward to the classic beat ‘em up, Street Fighter V.

The FIFA 18 tournament will take place across the first two festival days, and the Rocket League winners will be established on Saturday. Sunday will be dedicated to Street Fighter V and Gran Turismo Sport.
