Press release from 1/11/17 | DreamHack Leipzig

    Streaming stars at DreamHack Leipzig

Streamers are the pop stars of the gaming scene. We will be paying homage to their popularity by inviting some of them to DreamHack Leipzig in 2017, where they will be broadcasting from a dedicated streaming area in Hall 5. Visitors of the three-day event can look forward to an absolute highlight. They get to watch their idols in action and say hello to them in person in the meet & greet area. Gamers who cannot make it to Leipzig between 13 and 15 January 2017 can experience the festival in real time on many YouTube and Twitch channels – from anywhere in the world.

This makes DreamHack the hottest spot of the German gaming streaming community. The list of attendees already features household names from the scene, including VITALIC DOTA2, Dhalucard, Sissor, Skate702, FisHC0p, diZee, Moondye7 & Maiho, Papaplatte, RalFinger, P4wnyhof and TrilluXe. World première: TrilluXe will be showing his face for the very first time at DreamHack in Leipzig. He has thus far remained incognito in his streams. Along with the 18 fixed slots for established streamers, there are also two wild-card places which will be shared over the course of the festival by a total of six ambitious newcomers.

One thing is certain: streaming has developed from a trend into a professional discipline over the past years. Some streamers with a large fan base can even make a living from subscriptions, donations, sponsors and advertising clients. "Many streamers dream of turning their hobby into a profession. As the figureheads of the gaming industry, they bring this part of internet culture into the public sphere – of course, the industry has become interested in them," Milan Walker, eSports-Manager and Manager of Influencer Marketing at XMG, a manufacturer of gaming PCs and co-organiser of DreamHack Leipzig, explains. He continues: "For this year’s streaming area, we have picked a small number of select streamers who are up for performing in front of a live audience amidst the hustle and bustle of a trade fair. Our list of participants shows that this has worked very well."

Not only gamers are looking forward to the upcoming DreamHack excitedly, but also the streamers themselves. Skate702, who will be streaming in front of a live audience for the first time in Leipzig, says: "This is my first ever gaming festival. I am looking forward to meet a lot of new people and experience things that rarely happen outside of a trade fair or festival context. That’s why I will also capture the whole event on video."

Streamer P4wnyhof is similarly enthusiastic about the event. "DreamHack Leipzig is one of the largest gaming festivals in Germany. It is a must-go and a great place to meet other streamers, friends and the wider community."
